Sensory Sundays create a quieter environment where appointments are adapted around each individual rather than expecting the individual to adapt to the appointment.

FOUNDER & SENIOR BARBER
Jay has been barbering professionally since 2014 and founded Luxe Male Grooming with a passion for delivering modern barbering in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
Over the years, he has developed a loyal client base through attention to detail, consistency and genuine relationships with the people who sit in his chair.
Beyond barbering, Jay is also the founder of Autism Barber NI. His professional experience and personal understanding have shaped Luxe’s sensory-friendly services and its commitment to making haircuts more accessible and comfortable.

WHAT TO EXPECT.
1. ONE-TO-ONE APPOINTMENT
The barbershop is dedicated exclusively to your child. No waiting crowds or overlapping appointments.
2. REDUCED NOISE
Background music is softened or turned off completely, and quiet clippers or scissors are selected based on preference.
3. FLEXIBLE TIMING
Generous time slots are allocated so there is no rush to finish within a rigid, stressful schedule.
4. PARENTS STAY INVOLVED
Parents stay right beside their child, helping guide comfort and sharing what works best for them.
5. BRING COMFORT ITEMS
Feel free to bring noise-cancelling headphones, favourite fidget toys, tablets or comfort blankets.
6. PAUSE ANYTIME IF NEEDED
Appointments can take breaks, stand up, move around the shop, or pause whenever your child needs a rest.
There is no expectation to complete everything immediately. Appointments can pause, take breaks or simply move at whatever pace feels comfortable.

QUESTIONS ABOUT SENSORY SUNDAYS.
They are designed for children and individuals with autism or additional sensory needs who may benefit from a quieter, one-to-one environment, extra time and a flexible pace.
Parents and carers are welcome to bring familiar items such as headphones, a favourite toy, a tablet or anything else that helps the individual feel more settled.
There is no pressure to rush. Jay can pause, allow breaks and adapt the appointment around the individual. If the haircut cannot be completed, the situation will be handled with patience and without judgement.
